Product Description
Working with traditional blades can be very dangerous, especially when blade change is required. Many manufacturers changed their handle designs to try to reduce the risk of injuries from bladed tools. Not believing this fully addressed the safety issue, Slice went one step further and designed our blades differently. We make our thicker blades from pure zirconium oxide. This extra thickness allows us to apply our proprietary double-angle grind, reducing the size of the part of the blade that does the cutting. Also, the angle of the grind is wider, so when it comes into contact with your skin, the blade pushes the skin aside. It doesn’t puncture or lacerate your skin the way a traditional blade would, keeping you safer. But it is still a blade, and with enough pressure, it can still cut you. We strongly recommend that our blades only be used with the Slice handles they were designed for, in order to obtain the best cutting results. Not recommended for drywall or wood. Don’t bend or subject the blade to a side load. These blades are compatible with our Metal-Handle Utility Knives and our EDC Pocket Knife. Our manual metal-handle knife (10490) allows you to fix the blade in position. The auto-retractable version automatically retracts the blade when the blade-engaging slider is released. These knives also have convenient on-board storage for extra blades. The 10524, 10525, and 10523 blades also fit our mini scrapers. These compact scrapers work well for small scraping jobs in tight areas. The manual version (10594) allows the blade to be fixed in place. The auto-retractable version (10590) offers the added safety of auto-retraction, so the blade retracts when the slider is released. But it also has an added feature, SureScrape, that absorbs the kickback pressure from scraping, reducing the likelihood of painful strain injuries. This makes the auto-retractable mini scraper comfortable to use for longer periods.
